International Women’s Day commemorates the movement for women's rights. Over 15,000 garment workers in New York, mainly immigrant Jewish women who worked in sweatshops, went on strike for better working hours, wages and conditions. The first International Women’s Day was observed on March 8 , 1914 and was suggested by the 1910 International Woman's Conference and was further adopted by UN in 1975.
The International Women's Day 2019 campaign theme of #BalanceforBetter is a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world.
In resonance with this, Prathidhwani Women's Forum comes up with various programs which includes seminar on "Gender Equality in IT Sector", Health Checkup with reduced rates, Street Play and various competitions like Hackathon, Photography contest, Tik Tok contest to celebrate Women’s Day
