Infosys won the “4th Season - Raviz Prathidhwani7s Football Tournament hosted by the IT Employees Welfare Association “Prathidhwani”. In an exciting final played on the 4th of October, Infosys defeated UST Global by one goal. Infosys emerged even as the winners in the first ever women's 5's tournament in the history of Technopark.
Honorable Minister of Sports for Kerala, Sri. E.P Jayarajan, Former Kerals Football Team Captain, Sri. S Igantius, Sri Dileep Kumar PI – (GM, Raviz hotels & Resorts) and Kidilam Firoz (Radio RJ) took part in the inaugural ceremony which happened at 5pm. Sri. S Igantius and Sri Dileep Kumat distributed the prizes for winners. Prathidhwani Sports Convener Rajith V P presided the inaugural function, Prathidhwani Sevens convener Suhas P B welcomed the guests. Technopark HR Sri Abhilash, Different Company CEOs, Prathidhwani president Vineeth Chandran, Prathidhwani Secretary Rajeev Krishnan were also present for the ceremony.
Infosys, the defending champions of the tournament retained the crown for the fourth time in a row. More than 1000 techies were there to witness the exciting final. In the semifinals, UST Global knocked out Allianz and Infosys overcame IBS to qualify for the final clash. Allianz beat IBS (2 – 1) to secure the third place.
Infosys handed over the cash price amount Rs.10,000/- to Prathidhwani for handing over the same to Chief Ministers Flood Relief Fund
72 teams from 61 companies participated in the Men’s Sevens tournament, 12 companies participated in Women’s Fives tournament, 16 companies participated in Womens penalty shootout contest. Companies including Infosys, UST Global, Oracle, RRD, IBS, Tata Elxsi, Finastra, Speridian, Quest Global, Envestnet, E&Y, Navigant, PITS, Allianz, Suntec, RMESI, IIITM-K, Flytxt, Polus Software, Triassic, M Squared, Innovation Incubator, Applexus, iDynamics, Aptara, YCA, H&R Block and Alamy took part in the sevens tournament.
The tournament commenced on July 14 and was halted to indulge in the flood relief activities. The second-round matches resumed on September 22nd with the motto of supporting initiatives for "rebuild Kerala". Besides Men’s 7s football, Women’s 5 a side football tournament, Penalty shootout and various fund raising events were also organized. The funds sourced from these initiatives will be handed over to the CMDRF under the label of Prathidhwani.
Player of the match awards were given for all 104 matches and player of the tournament was presented with Balu Memorial Trophy.
