Include Technopark Campus in Light Metro Plan: Prathidhwani

For Technopark- largest IT park in Asia, negligence from government in fulfilling its infrastructure needs is not something new. Kazhakkoottam Railway station is a glaring example and latest one being Light metro Proposal by DMRC. Technopark is not one point in Light Metro of Thiruvananthapuram can only be heard only with shock and disbelief. 45,000+ employees commute to Technopark  for work, every day. Around 7500 cars and same number of bikes along with cabs carry people to work. Light Metro will revolutionise the way public transport works in the city and, Technopark will be key to its operational success from the very beginning. Technopark has the largest concentration of work force in a single campus in the city. With the rapid expansion, this is expected to double in the coming years, coinciding with the commencement of Light Metro operations. Light Metro connectivity will not only benefit the existing companies but also help in attracting companies to set up operations in Technopark Employees of Technopark was raising voice for improved public transportation as commuting in private vehicles is costly. There is issues of pollution and parking space as well. Technopark’ s last mile connectivity is very pathetic as well, people need to shell more money to commute to Technopark from Kazhakkoottam junction. If there is a station in  Technopark Campus, that can do wonders in alleviating commutation pains of techies. We- Prathidhwani, socio cultural organization of Technopark employees, want to comment that Gross Neglect of Technopark in Light Metro Plan is unfortunate. We, Prathidhwani urge government to intervene in this situation quickly and include Technopark Campus in Light Metro Plan. We are planning to organize massive campaign against this neglect and submit memorandums to Chief Minister , Leader of Opposition, E Sreedharan, People’s Representatives and DMRC as a first step.  We will keep all employees posted about updates in this campaign.
