Technopark issues alert on job fraud

Technopark authorities have urged citizens to be on the alert after it emerged that some fraudsters have been claiming to offer training and hundred per cent placements for job aspirants in companies at the information technology (IT) park here.

The caution, according to an official release from the State’s IT hub, comes in the wake of complaints from jobseekers and their parents who lost money after responding to fake advertisements.

A Technopark official said the alert had been issued to reiterate and inform the public that Technopark allocated space in the park only for legitimately operating IT and IT enabled service (ITES) companies. As per the contract signed with these firms, they could not offer training for money. Any training of employees in IT or other areas must only be to meet the firm’s own skill and resource requirements. In other words, only in-house training was allowed.

“However, we have seen advertisements in newspapers offering training, that too for money. We have issued notices to all the firms apart from an alert to the public. We are also monitoring the activities of all the firms here, around 350 in total. But there are still chances of students falling to traps and losing their money,” the official said.

“Any company that has offered to train people for money or promised hundred per cent job placements as a follow-up to the training has violated the terms of the agreement signed with Technopark. Technopark is tightening the restrictions and improving monitoring to tackle fraudulent businesses,” the official said.

‘Bid to defame IT park’

It was also noted that some groups or individuals were using a few ‘isolated incidents’ to ‘defame Technopark and the legitimately operating businesses here.’ “So, we are urging jobseekers to verify the legitimacy of claims in advertisements by contacting the company directly for details regarding the work, salary, and the terms of the contract,” the official added.
