Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy today laid the foundation stone of a new building to mark the expansion of Leela Infopark inside the Technopark campus in Thiruvananthapuram, at a function presided over by Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty. The Leela Infopark Phase II building will be operational by 2015.
In his address, the Chief Minister said that Kerala missed the first wave of IT growth in the country and today the State cannot afford to do it again. “The State government will do everything possible to support the growth of IT in Kerala. SmartCity Kochi and the Technocity project in Trivandrum will soon be a reality”.
The IT Minister said that with the expansion of Technopark campus, Kerala will be a leading IT destination in the country. “The Government is committed to bring in reputed and multi-national companies to Kerala.” 
According to Vivek Nair, Vice Chairman & MD, Leela Group of Hotels, “In keeping with the times and the galloping growth of the IT & ITeS industry, the Leela Group forayed into infrastructure development in the commercial and IT sector in early 2000 and today, we are now in the process of creating over 10 million sq. ft. ‘State of the art’ infrastructure in Kochi, Trivandrum, Palakkad and Calicut, among other cities.
