Holiday Declared for Techies on Polling Day - 10th April 2014

Techies working in Technopark would get rest on poll day as the companies gave a holiday on April 10 so that the employees would get an opportunity to exercise their franchise. Image removed. “The companies gave a holiday as there was a government directive to give leave to employees for casting their votes. “The employees who have to carry out any work can do their work. The employer will not make it mandatory for the employee to work on the polling day,” said an official of the Group of Technology Companies, association of IT companies in the state. Already the government had declared a public holiday on April 10 for all public offices, educational institutions and public sector undertakings under the State Government and a paid holiday for each person employed in any business, trade, industrial undertakings or any other establishment, commercial undertakings in the state. “The Labour Commissioner will make necessary arrangements with all private enterprises, private industrial centres and other private institutions under the Shops and Commercial Establishment Act to declare the poll day in the state on April 10 as a paid holiday,” the order said.
