Pity
There happens to be a time,
At the moment of truth.
The truth that you seek,
but the same
you silently shame about.
The exigency in your words,
the care in your eyes;
I watch as they fade,
superseded by mutilating aggregate of pity, pity, pity.
Hush! Don't you dare
look into my eyes with commiseration.
Don't you dare
speak of how sorry you feel;
For now
I can see a thousand lights
that was so hard to find.
I won't let your solace
bring me back to those memories;
Of the hard times I used to blame.
But i realised it is not my sorrow
but your pity that weakened me;
That shadowed over
those thousand lights
that was lit all this time,
to guide my path out of the debris.
So stay by my side
even if silence is all you’ve got to offer.
But if pity is in store,
I plead,
you leave!
