NASSCOM Tech Series: The Rise of Data Science in the Age of Big Data Analytics {1500 hrs ~ 1800 hrs, 09 Oct 2013, Park Centre, Trivandrum, Kerala}

The Rise of Data Science in the Age of Big Data Analytics Dear All, In the past few years, the global marketplace has witnessed exponential growth in data volumes, created and consumed by a diverse cross-section of stakeholders. The term “Big Data” signifies large data sets in multiple formats, growing at an enormous rate and posing problems for traditional storage and analytical platforms. Big Data is distinct from large existing data stored in various relational databases, as it warrants a more advanced mechanism for both storage and analysis. Thus, Big Data is characterized by three attributes of data: volume, variety and the velocity at which it is generated. Data science while not a new area has seen an increased focus with the advent of analytics mostly around Big Data. This has led to the definition of new roles like the Data Scientist! The session will look at demystifying data science, look at the rise of data science as a practice and some examples / use cases of data science being used in the current world. It will also look at this space from a business and a services stand point. Look forward to valuable participation. Image removed.
