Data farm & Wi-Fi connectivity soon in Technopark

Image removed. With companies facing the onslaught of the rupee fall, the new ‘Open-eye Space and Data Farm’ that is coming up in Technopark here will give a respite to firms, particularly small and medium enterprises. Now, companies are spending huge amounts on data storage, for which firms based out of Technopark are relying on servers operating in the US and Germany. The work for setting up the Open eye-space and Data Farm has already begun and it will be up and running in another two months. “We have already imported the server from abroad and the work has started. The cost of data storage is high for companies. Particularly for the small and medium companies, the data farm will be beneficial as we will be able to provide data storage at a much lower cost,” said K C Chandrasekharan Nair, COO, Technology Innovation Zone and head of Technopark-Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI). Once the data farm is set up, the cost of data storage for the companies would come down considerably. ‘’Data farm, which is superior to spatial data centre, will be able to provide data storage facility to all companies functioning in Technopark. Also, in the next phase, this facility can be extended to companies in Kochi and Kozhikode,” he said. Also, Wi-Fi connectivity will be part of the new initiative, which is a long-standing demand of the techies at Technopark. The Wi-Fi connectivity will be of 8 GB and it will be available across the campus. Image removed. The new initiative will boost the service delivery of Technopark as the Technopark Phase III is getting ready to be commissioned soon. The campus, developed on 92 acres of land, presently has the twin towers with total area of 1 million square feet ready to be occupied. ‘Smart Business Centres’ have been set up on the second and third floors of the second tower and they have seating capacities of minimum 18 and maximum 50. There are currently 22 Smart Business Centres and all have been allotted to various companies. The third phase is being developed as both Special Economic Zone as well as Non-Special Economic Zone.   http://newindianexpress.com/cities/thiruvananthapuram/Kerala-entrepreneurs-week-fete-at-Technopark/2013/09/06/article1770336.ece
