A one-day workshop on e-waste management will be held in Technopark on Thursday. Organized by New Delhi- based environmental NGO Toxics Link and Thiruvananthapuram-based Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), in association with the Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and the Technopark Technology Incubation Centre (T-TBIC), it will dwell on the need to facilitate deliberations and information exchange on e-waste rules and its implementation among the prominent stakeholders in Kerala.
Kerala has stood at the forefront among other states in the adoption and application of ICT and is a pioneer in e-governance activities. A byproduct of these developments, e-waste, has also turned out to be a growing issue in the states and calls for immediate action. Minister for co-operation C N Balakrishnan will be the chief guest at the programme. Technopark CFO KChandrasekharan Nair and MLA M A Vaheed will also attend the ceremony.
